Family2{photos by Brooke Bryand}

I love taking photographs. About two years ago I took the leap and invested in my own beautiful DSLR camera. Throughout my pregnancy I enjoyed documenting my belly’s growth (like here,¬†here, and here), but when it came to the thought of photographing my brand new little guy I felt nervous. I so wanted to capture the details of Grayson’s infancy. I also wanted pictures of our family of three together. The pressure of capturing those precious moments as a beginner photographer and new mom felt overwhelming. Enter the idea of hiring a newborn photographer.

Grayson2When I mentioned this idea to my cousin Kate, she immediately recommended Brooke Bryand. After watching this video, I was in. She seemed like someone I could connect to and have share in our excitement.

Grayson5My theory is that Brooke is a baby whisperer. Right away I was comfortable with her handling my brand new baby because of her loving nature and gentle touch. I was worry free and able to enjoy the day, marveling at the beauty of the little baby we had created and laughing with my love.

Grayson1The photos that we have are more than I could have asked for. Capturing the joy of bringing home our first baby was what I wanted and it is what I have. Brooke made all of us feel comfortable, even Jeff, who can be a little camera shy.

Grayson6It was a wonderful day, filled with joy. It was the best the best gift I gave myself. Thank you Brooke for helping us capture such a special time in the life of our family.

What a lovely family — my fav is the one where he is in the little knit hat with that smug smile on his face. I’m a sucker for babies in knits! But that smile just melts me!
